In spite of the various criticisms which have been levelled at Disney's THE BLACK HOLE, it cannot be denied that the hardware design is significant in film history, and beautifully unique. This effort represents a project which I was always interested in having a go at, although I didn't anticipate trying this early in my use of Blender. The first thing I had to decide (and I consider this paramount in my actually being able to finish it!) was how best to build this without foaming at the mouth. To that end I used a four file step procedure (editable model, colour & materials, a joined file and finally the complete form with lighting rig), and employed a few of Blender's strengths - most notably the array modifier.
