Archviz Café

This second archviz project reflects a wish to try something commercial in tone. Inspired by the images of an artistic musing I decided to craft a cafe, taking advantage of the further practice which would be required for the various assets which populate such an establishment. It's common practice to use model archives to fulfil such requirements but that would a) be no fun and b) defeat a good part of the purpose of the project. The images are laid out in chronological order, giving some insight into the evolution.

The beginning - getting the foundation into place. This is Ralph by the way, acting as a secondary gauge, to ensure the place and its assets stay to scale. Thanks Ralph!

Paying more attention to the construction of the counter area, with consideration for efficiency of function.

This is me being kind to customers. Nicer than trying to jump a two foot step. Don't mind the boxes..

Placeholder boxes to help map out the space for the seating arrangements.

Sofas and tables.. much more comfy!

Every café needs a bathroom.. I wouldn't be that cruel.

Progress with the lighting. Mostly gone are the ghost lights, replaced with actual light fittings, set to begin providing that cosy feel.

A second set of lights, on the warmer end of the Kelvin scale, to enhance the cosiness of each alcove.

The frames were improvised, a departure from the normal practice of finding something real world to replicate. The pictures are from my own photography collection, and it's quite surreal to see them brought to life in a virtual environment.

Introducing a HDRI into the proceedings to give a little more focus to the exterior lighting, and a little greenery for aesthetic considerations.

Thanks to a twenty year old conversation over the worst flavour combo's you can think of, friend John Sides gave us this.. I've never forgotten it, and now you can enjoy it as part of the café.
