This scene was pretty much the first idea that suggested itself when I sat back and contemplated where I might next spread the wings. I think it's amongst the prettiest so far! The modelling technique that's surprised me the most whilst learning Blender these last nine months has been the use of subdivided cubes for crafting shapes which are as far removed from the notion of a cube as possible. The bodies and heads of both characters were formed from single cubes - of all the modelling I've done, both public facing and practice pieces, the undeniably feminine form of Elsie (I literally just named her by the way..) is probably the best example to date. The characters are inevitably going to draw parallels with the crazy divination that goes on at Pixar.. they're arguably the masters of all things anthropomorphic. Still it's an interesting exercise to undertake. Exploring how and why concepts of cute happen to work so well, and to what degree you can play with modelling language to solidify character, is something I intend to embrace unashamedly in my arsenal of techniques.
